Meet Dr Marek Garbowski MBBS, FRACS (VASCULAR)

Dr Marek Garbowski is a highly experienced Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon and the founder of Perth Vascular Clinic, one of Western Australia’s leading specialist vascular surgery clinics. Established in 2006, the clinic was founded with a focus on delivering comprehensive vascular care, from initial assessment and diagnostic investigation through to surgical treatment and long-term management.

After completing his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 1994, Dr Garbowski gained extensive surgical experience working in Sydney, Hobart and Melbourne before undertaking advanced vascular and endovascular training in Australia and New Zealand. His specialist training included appointments at The Royal Adelaide Hospital, Repatriation General Hospital and Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide, along with Waikato Hospital in Hamilton, New Zealand. In 2005, he was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Vascular Surgery (FRACS - Vasc). He is also a member of the Australian & New Zealand Society of Vascular Surgery, the Australasian College of Phlebology and the Western Australian Vascular & Endovascular Society.
Dr Garbowski consults from rooms in Subiaco and Joondalup and treats both public and private patients of all ages. He performs both open vascular surgery and minimally invasive endovascular procedures, with access to both public and private hospitals when surgery is required. His approach focuses on providing continuity of care throughout the entire treatment pathway, helping patients avoid unnecessary referrals between multiple providers.

With special interests in endovascular management of carotid disease (carotid stenting), state-of-the-art interventions in peripheral vascular disease, as well as endovascular treatment of complex thoracic and abdominal aneurysms, Dr Garbowski has developed expertise in endovenous therapy for varicose veins; including radio-frequency ablation and Varixio-based foam sclerotherapy techniques, and has extensive experience in the management of foot ulcers and a comprehensive approach to the management of primary hyperhidrosis.

In addition to private practice, Dr Garbowski has held senior leadership and teaching positions within Western Australia’s vascular surgery community. He is the current Head of the Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Department at Joondalup Health Campus, and operates at St John of God Hospital in Subiaco (private patients only) as well as Joondalup Health Campus (both public and private patients). He continues to contribute to medical education as a senior lecturer and educator at The University of Western Australia and The University of Notre Dame Australia.

Through his strong interest in education, Dr Garbowski works towards raising general awareness of venous causes of chronic pelvic pain in both women and men.
Dr Garbowski is committed to combining advanced vascular techniques with a patient-focused approach, ensuring patients receive clear guidance, thorough investigation and high-quality care throughout every stage of treatment. Perth Vascular Clinic supports this approach with access to dedicated vascular imaging and diagnostic services, helping streamline investigations and reduce unnecessary appointments for patients.
