A weakened area of the aorta expanding or bulging is called an aneurysm. This can occur in the thoracic aorta and is known as Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm/TAA (chest) or the abdominal aorta known as Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm/AAA (abdomen).
Peripheral Vascular Disease
Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD) is more commonly referred to as ‘poor circulation’, that happens due to the narrowing of the arteries that supply blood to various parts of the body.
Varicose Veins & Pelvic Venous Disorders
Varicose veins are swollen veins that can be seen through the skin, often appearing as blue, bulging and twisted veins just beneath the skin’s surface (superficial veins of the legs). Pelvic Venous Disorders Pelvic (PeVD) formally known as Pelvic Congestion Syndrome (PCS) is a common condition believed to be associated with enlarge venous network in the pelvis that could result in development of chronic pelvic pain.
Carotid Artery Disease & Strokes
Carotid Artery Disease (CAD) occurs when major arteries in the neck (carotid arteries) that supply b lood to the brain become narrowed or blocked. This is caused by a build up of plaque, which causes the arteries to narrow and stiffen.
Ulcers & Diabetic Foot Problems
Patients with diabetes are at significantly increased risk of developing foot ulcers. Combination of diabetes and foot ulceration remains the main cause of amputations in diabetic patients. There are three groups of diabetic foot ulcers: Venous, Neuropathic and Arterial.
Thoracic Outlet Syndrome
Thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) is a condition caused by compression of nerves or blood vessels in the thoracic outlet.
Chronic Leg Swelling
Chronic Leg Swelling is usually not painful, but it may cause a heavy, aching discomfort and limit a person’s ability to use his or her arms or legs, increase the risk of certain infections, or cause emotional distress due to the severe swelling of the arm or the leg.
Hyperhidrosis
Hyperhidrosis is excessive and uncontrollable sweating most commonly experienced in the armpit (Axillary), hands (Palmar) or feet (Plantar).
Treatment Pathway
Clinical Assessment
At this first consultation, Dr Garbowski will discuss your medical history and current conditions and in most cases conduct a physical examination. A treatment plan to effectively manage your condition will be discussed and treatment suggestions offered.
Laboratory Assessment
Our patients may be referred for further investigations which could require direct testing (duplex imaging) or indirect testing (ABI, Toe Pressure, Exercise ABI).
Indirect arterial testing — Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) also known as Ankle Brachial Pressure Index (ABPI) can be scheduled at our Subiaco Clinic with one of our trained technicians. Direct testing is conducted through various professional radiology services specialising in vascular testing.
Dr Garbowski will advise your referral requirements.
Surgery
Should surgery be the required treatment plan, Dr Garbowski will discuss the procedure in detail with you and explain the probable outcome. An Admission Pack will be issued which contains all relevant information about your upcoming procedure. Should you have any questions along the way our friendly team will be happy to assist.
Postoperative Follow Up
Dependent on your individual clinical circumstance, Dr Garbowski will advise your requirements for postoperative or follow up appointments. The reception team will schedule your appointment and send a reminder closer to the day. The SMS reminder will also be sent if your mobile number is provided.
