Treatment Options for Pelvic Venous Disorders

VARIXIO Foam Sclerotherapy

Ambulatory Phlebectomy

Ambulatory phlebectomy removes bulging varicose veins through very small punctures in the skin under local anaesthetic. It is a day procedure that leaves minimal scarring and allows a rapid return to normal activities.

Angioplasty and Stenting

Angioplasty and stenting opens narrowed or blocked arteries by inflating a small balloon inside the vessel and, where needed, placing a mesh tube to hold it open. It is a minimally invasive alternative to open surgery for many arterial conditions.

Bypass Surgery

Bypass surgery creates a new route for blood to travel around a blocked or severely narrowed artery. It is used to restore circulation to the legs and feet when less invasive treatments are not suitable or have not been effective.

Carotid Endarterectomy

Carotid endarterectomy removes fatty plaque from the carotid arteries in the neck to significantly reduce the risk of stroke. It is one of the most effective operations available for preventing stroke in people with significant carotid narrowing.

Endovascular Aortic Aneurysm Repair (EVAR/FEVAR/BEVAR)

EVAR, FEVAR and BEVAR are minimally invasive techniques for repairing aortic aneurysms using a stent-graft delivered through small incisions in the groin. They offer shorter hospital stays and faster recovery compared to traditional open surgery.

Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLT)

Endovenous laser ablation (EVLT) uses laser energy to close diseased veins from within, eliminating the underlying cause of varicose veins. It is a highly effective day procedure with a fast recovery and excellent long-term results.

Open Aortic Surgery

Open aortic surgery repairs life-threatening aortic aneurysms and dissections by replacing the weakened section of the aorta with a synthetic graft. It remains the preferred approach for complex aortic conditions not suited to endovascular techniques.

Pelvic Vein Embolisation

Pelvic vein embolisation is a minimally invasive procedure that blocks the enlarged, poorly functioning veins causing pelvic congestion syndrome. It is performed under image guidance with no general anaesthetic required and provides lasting relief from chronic pelvic pain.

Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)

Radiofrequency ablation uses precisely controlled heat to seal diseased veins from the inside, causing them to close and be gradually absorbed by the body. It is a highly effective, walk-in walk-out treatment for varicose veins with minimal discomfort and downtime.

Renal Access Surgery

Renal access surgery creates a reliable connection between an artery and vein to support kidney dialysis. Most commonly performed as an AV fistula in the forearm, it provides durable, long-term dialysis access.

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy involves injecting a solution directly into varicose or spider veins to irritate and close the vessel wall. It is a quick, well-established outpatient treatment suitable for a range of vein sizes, from fine thread veins to medium-sized varicosities.

Thoracoscopic Sympathectomy (VATS)

Thoracoscopic sympathectomy is a minimally invasive keyhole operation that permanently stops excessive sweating of the palms and, in some cases, the face. It targets the nerve signals responsible for overactive sweat glands and provides long-lasting relief for severe hyperhidrosis.

Varicocele Embolisation

Varicocele embolisation is a minimally invasive procedure that blocks the enlarged veins within the scrotum causing a varicocele. It avoids the need for open surgery, has a short recovery, and preserves fertility in most patients.

VARIXIO Foam Sclerotherapy

VARIXIO foam sclerotherapy is a clinically proven, minimally invasive treatment for varicose veins using licensed polidocanol injectable foam to close affected veins and restore healthy leg circulation.

VenaSeal

VenaSeal is a non-thermal treatment for varicose veins that uses a medical-grade adhesive to permanently seal the diseased vein. No heat or tumescent anaesthesia is required, and most patients can return to normal activities immediately after the procedure.

Services

Non-invasive Assessment of PVD – ABI Clinic

Our ABI Clinic uses a simple, painless ankle-brachial pressure test to measure blood flow in your legs and screen for peripheral arterial disease. Results guide your treatment plan with no invasive procedures required.

Stockings Clinic

Our Stockings Clinic provides professional measurement and fitting of graduated compression stockings to help manage varicose veins, chronic leg swelling, and venous ulcers. Correctly fitted stockings make a significant difference to comfort and outcomes.

Quality Care from Start to Finish

Treatment Pathway

Clinical Assessment

At this first consultation, Dr Garbowski will discuss your medical history and current conditions and in most cases conduct a physical examination. A treatment plan to effectively manage your condition will be discussed and treatment suggestions offered.

Laboratory Assessment

Our patients may be referred for further investigations which could require direct testing (duplex imaging) or indirect testing (ABI, Toe Pressure, Exercise ABI).

Indirect arterial testing — Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) also known as Ankle Brachial Pressure Index (ABPI) can be scheduled at our Subiaco Clinic with one of our trained technicians. Direct testing is conducted through various professional radiology services specialising in vascular testing.

Dr Garbowski will advise your referral requirements.

Surgery

Should surgery be the required treatment plan, Dr Garbowski will discuss the procedure in detail with you and explain the probable outcome. An Admission Pack will be issued which contains all relevant information about your upcoming procedure. Should you have any questions along the way our friendly team will be happy to assist.

Postoperative Follow Up

Dependent on your individual clinical circumstance, Dr Garbowski will advise your requirements for postoperative or follow up appointments. The reception team will schedule your appointment and send a reminder closer to the day. The SMS reminder will also be sent if your mobile number is provided.
